First Grade teacher, Mrs. Deane Sprague, was chosen as Teacher of the Year by the Hamilton County Department of Education.

Hamilton County Elementary Teacher of the Year

Nolan teacher Mrs. Deane Sprague has been selected as the Hamilton County Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2002-2003. She has also qualified as a regional finalist in the State Teacher of the Year competition. She will be interviewed in Nashville on May 8, 2003, and a winner will be announced in October.

Mrs. Sprague has been teaching for 16 years and is currently a beloved and much admired first grade teacher at Nolan. She has a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and a Master's degree in Elementary Education. Both degrees are from the University of Tennessee.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2003, Mr. Barker took Mrs. Sprague out to lunch in style to honor her great achievement. As they left for their lunch the students of Nolan Elementary gathered to show Mrs. Sprague their thanks and admiration.
