The Nolan Elementary Library is a wonderful place where children can explore the world of reading. Starting from kindergarten, each class visits the library once a week for 45 minutes. Each student is allowed to check out two books per week. This process has been made incredibly easier since the completion of the automated library in 2006. The project added six new computers to the library, and automated the card system making checking out and researching book selections an easier task.

This year the Nolan Library will be hosting Book Talks where children are asked to read a book and talk about their own ideas and opinions regarding the book to the rest of the class. It is a fun activity that gives the students a chance to share their reading experiences with others in a fun and stress rree environment.

Nolan Library Birthday/Honor Books

Anyone wishing to honor someone special (your child for his/her birthday, or a special friend or relative) can make a donation of $10 to the Nolan Library, and your child may come in and select a new book to be placed in the library in his/her honor. A bookplate with your child's name and birth date will be placed in the front of the book. This book will be added to our Nolan Library collection.

If you would like to participate, visit the Nolan Library to pick up a form and return it to the school with your donation. Your donation will help improve Nolan Library's collection as well as recognize your special person.

Honoring someone with a book for Nolan Library would also make a great Christmas gift!

Sir Learnsalot Book

During the first year of Nolan Elementary's existence, teachers Cheryl Smith and Kathie Nolan wrote and illustrated a storybook about Nolan mascot, the knight. Sir Learnslot of Knowland was published in the spring of 2000.

All proceeds from the purchase of Sir Learnslot of Knowland are given directly to the school library. If you are interested in purchasing a copy for your child, please contact Nolan librarian, Mrs. Lynda Paschal.
