WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?The Mountain Education Fund and Founders' Fund both strive to provide resources to our schools that are not available through county or state funding, thus improving the quality of our children’s education. While both efforts endeavor to raise needed funds for education on the mountain, they have distinct underlying purposes and this side-by-side comparison should give you a better understanding.
With the community’s full enthusiasm and financial support over the next ten months, the new Signal Mountain Middle/High School will open with all of the resources required to achieve the highest standard in public education. In addition, the Mountain Education Fund will successfully reach their financial goal in order to continue to provide critical annual funding for the ongoing needs of Nolan, Thrasher, and the Middle School. Soon after Signal Mountain Middle/High School opens in the fall of 2008, the Founders’ Fund will dissolve and the renamed and restructured MEF (Mountain Education Foundation) will continue to financially support the annual needs of Nolan Elementary, Thrasher Elementary as well as Signal Mountain Middle/ High School.
